Meenar-e-Pakistan Choak (read Minar-e-Pakistan Chowk), also known as Azadi Chowk, is situated in Lahore, capital of Punjab, Pakistan, and is one of the most famous locations of the country. The minaret was constructed here in the famous Minto Park where the ceremony of Pakistan Resolution was conducted in 1940 that resulted in the creation of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Being one of the major gateways to Lahore city, the square remains busy with the traffic all day long. In order to facilitate the traffic, (Government of Punjab ) has decided to construct an interchange on the road which will be completed in next few weeks. The construction project was awarded to Habib Construction Services which is one of the biggest construction companies of Pakistan and have worked on several other mega projects previously. Habib Construction Services also contributed in the construction of the celebrated (Lahore Metro Bus Project ). In fact one of the major reasons for constructing the Azadi Chowk Interchange was also Metro Bus System. According to the PC1 (official document for construction of any project) of Metro Bus System in Lahore, the Shahdra to Gajju Matta route had to be signal free but to complete it in a hurry, this phase was left over for a future time. It is being completed now. According to the statistics shared by the Punjab Metro Bus Authority, more than hundred and fifty thousand people are use the Metro Bus as a transport daily in the city. This has helped control the traffic in the city to a large extent as Ferozepur Road, which constitutes major part of the Metro track, was previously the most hectic road of the city while now it has by and large been controlled.
